My Story
In my early 20s, one of my initial jobs was at Nintendo of America. I began as a customer service representative, assisting people nationwide in setting up their newly purchased Nintendo consoles. Over time, I moved into the role of a Game Play Counselor, where I had the delightful task of playing The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, and Super Mario Bros while being paid. I enjoyed helping kids overcome challenges in these games with subtle hints.
As life unfolded, my passion for gaming had to take a back seat due to other life responsibilities. I ventured into a career in IT, got married, had two wonderful boys, and pursued a degree in Psychology.
In 2017, my boys introduced me to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This game reignited my love for gaming, and I couldn’t get enough, finding all 900 Korok seeds. My obsession continued with Red Dead Redemption 2, a game that, for me, set the bar high on open-world games, with its beautiful landscapes, near accurate horse mechanics and engaging story. It remains my all-time favorite; I completed it on both console and PC, earning the 100% accomplishment badge on the latter.
Watching my boys play Fortnite during the Black Hole Event intrigued me enough to get me playing, starting at Chapter 2. I’ve been playing ever since! Despite my age, finding like-minded individuals is challenging. Joining social gaming groups revealed other women my age who shared the same passion, although many of us, myself included, remain a bit shy and hesitant to speak up. When I play multiplayer games such as squads in Fortnite, I never speak. Nevertheless, I play every day and savor every minute.
This blog aims to share my love for gaming and connect with other women my age who share this passion. Of course, I welcome women of all ages, recognizing that we can offer each other emotional support and share new ideas, creating a diverse and inclusive gaming community.
